A simple phone script for new contractor leads
A few consistent questions turn a vague call into a booked, qualified estimate. The same script works for you, your office staff, or an AI receptionist.
Open with the basics
Greet with your company name, then ask for the caller's name and best phone number first. If the call drops, you can still call back.
Questions worth asking
- What is the address and is it a house, rental or business?
- What is going on, in their words?
- How urgent is it, and is anything unsafe right now?
- Have they had anyone else look at it?
- What days and times work for a visit?
Know what not to say
Do not quote a price over the phone unless you truly can. Promise an estimate visit and a follow-up date instead.
Make it repeatable
Write the script down and use it every time. An AI receptionist asks the same questions the same way on every call, which helps when you are busy.
Common questions
How long should intake take?
A few minutes. Ask only what you need to decide whether and when to visit.
Should I ask about budget?
Some contractors do for large projects. Keep it optional and polite.
